Mission:

• The South Dakota Guardianship Program (SDGP) is a private, non-profit organization with a primary purpose to provide professional guardianship, conservatorship and related protective services for adults with developmental and other mentally disabling conditions.
• The SDGP complies with SDCL 29A-5 in carrying out its mission and services.
• SDGP is an alternative source of guardianship and conservatorship when family members or others are unable or unavailable to assume responsibility.
• Its secondary mission is to provide support services to professionals, parents and family members, people with developmental disabilities and others about guardianship, conservatorship and related protective services.
• The services include consultation, education, information and assistance.
• The SDGP recognizes the serious responsibilities and impact involved in assuming guardianship and conservatorship.
• Persons referred to the SDGP have basic rights and these rights will be acknowledged, supported and protected.
