DAWN (Dwellings & Advocacy for Women in Need) is a shared ministry of the Benedictine Sisters,Sisters of Mercy and the Sisters of St. Joseph.
- It was founded in 1995 to prevent women in recovery from addiction(s) and domestic violence from returning to former neighborhoods that would have negative influences to their recovery.
- Housing may be available up to two years to qualified women who are willing to be employed and/or attending school and working for their independence and self-sufficiency.
- Erie DAWN also currently has 3 furnished units through a private developer.
- These units identified as Martha s Place sites are available to women who are unemployed or underemployed and must achieve a sustainable income.
- Intensive case managment is provided them up to four months after which they may pursue other housing options.
