Cancer Care is a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide free professional help to people with all cancers through counseling, education, information and referral and direct financial assistance.

Clinical social workers provide one-to-one counseling through the 800 number.

They provide

• emotional support,
• assist in coping with treatment and treatment side effects,
• help you understand and talk to your doctor,
• nurse or other health care provider, and guide you to resources that can make you better able to focus on your health.

Cancer Care also offers financial assistance through the AVONCares Program to low-income, under and uninsured, and underserved women throughout the country who are in need of diagnostic services and/or treatment.

To apply for financial assistance call the 800 number and speak with a counselor.

In addition to counseling and financial support, Cancer Care also offers online support programs; telephone support groups through teleconferences to those who can't visit a Cancer Care office.

( Individuals can also hear previously recorded conferences through their website); and breast prosthesis and wig clinics to provide women with information about prostheses and wigs, and referrals to national resources.
