Description
Founded in 1966 as the
outreach arm of two local churches, Joint Neighborhood Ministry evolved
to address the emergency needs of an area experiencing a downward spiral
into poverty. Today, staff and volunteers provide emergency support
services of hunger relief, utility assistance, family counseling, a
preschool, and youth and after-school programming to an area
characterized by unemployment, underemployment, severe high school
dropout rate, subsidized and inadequate housing, government subsidized
income, and high crime rate.
