Description
The
Economic Stability section of DCFS (formerly OFS) assists families with
needed assistance programs, including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance
(SNAP), Kinship Care Subsidy Program (KCSP), the Family Independence
Temporary Assistance Program (FITAP), and the Child Care Assistance
Program (CCAP).
These programs are as follows:CASH-BASED ASSISTANCE
PROGRAMS: SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM/(SNAP) (formerly
known as Food Stamps) - provides monthly benefits tat help low income
households buy food needed for good heath.CHILD CARE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
(CCAP):Provides assistance to parents to help pay for the child care
they need to work or attend school or training.
KINSHIP CARE SUBSDY
PROGRAM (KCSP):Provides cash assistance for eligible children who reside
with qualified relatives other than parents.FAMILY INDEPENDENCE
TEMPORARY ASSISTANCE PROGREM (FITAP):Provides temporary cash assistance
to families in need.
* Strategies to Empower People Program (STEP);
Assists FITAP recipients with educational, training, and work related
activities designed to lead to employment and self-sufficiency.Contact

Economic Stability offices specialize in cash-based
assistance, but applications can be picked up, completed, and mailed in
