The Minority Aids Coordinators work with the Bureau of HIV/AIDS, Prevention Section to facilitate organizational and community capacity building among minority Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) and AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) providing HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment services to minority communities in Florida.

The primary functions of the network are:

1) Participate in monthly conference calls with the Bureau of HIV/AIDS;

2) Disseminate information to providers in the community;

3) Complete needs assessment surveys;

4) Assist in establishing a network of community members interested in HIV prevention and care;

5) Recruit additional members with diverse expertise and experience into the network;

6) Provide peer-based support, mentoring, and exchange of information;

7) Assist in planning and implementing network events;

8) Participate in local Community Planning Partnerships.
