Community action agency for Bozrah, Colchester, East Lyme, Franklin, Griswold, Groton, Lebanon, Ledyard, Lisbon, Lyme, Montville, New London, North Stonington, Norwich, Old Lyme, Preston, Salem, Sprague, Stonington, Voluntown, and Waterford provides
- community based services for people who are economically disadvantaged to promote self-sufficiency and economic independence.
Services include
- case management,
- employment and training,
- child care,
- Head Start,
- assistance with food,
- eviction prevention,
- housing programs,
- RSVP,
- Foster Grandparents,
- Senior Companion Program,
- Senior Nutrition Program,
- volunteer opportunities,
- WIC and Meals on Wheels.
Elegibility:
Resident of New London County experiencing a non-recurring, unexpected, documentable hardship;
Must have received a notice to quit or notice of foreclosure;
Must have income;
Income must be at or below 60% of the state median income;
Monthly rent/mortgage cannot exceed 60% of gross monthly income;
Must be able to document a severe hardship which is not chronic or recurring;
Landlord must be willing to cooperate with mediation process;
Must be able to pay the next month s rent;
Other restrictions may apply
Hours of operation:
M-F: 8am-4pm Call to request a pre-application form;
Must complete and mail back completed pre-application form before an interview can be scheduled;
Cannot apply more than once in any 18 month period
