The Housing Authority administers a number of Section 8 rental assistance programs for low-income families.

The objective of these programs is to provide adequate housing for low income families by subsidizing a family’s rent in an privately-owned rental unit. Section 8 refers to the section of the United States Housing Act which provides federal funding for these programs.

The Housing Authority currently administers the following Section 8 programs:

* Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program - the NEW Section 8 Program

* Section 8 Moderate Rehabilitation Program

* Section 8 Family Self-Sufficiency Program

* Section 8 Family Unification Program

* Section 8 Shelter Plus Care Program

* Section 8 Aftercare Program; Section 8 Portability Feature.
