Eligibility:UTILITY: Assistance can be given one time in
a twelve month period on a first come, first served basis.
Can only
provide assistance with the last $50 of the FINAL NOTICE AMOUNT.
Cannot
assist with bills where final notice has not been issued.
The balance of
the amount billed on final notice must be paid before assistance can be
provided.
Additional assistance from other organizations, agencies, or
churches is acceptable but evidence of that assistance must be provided.
Utility service must be in the name of the person requesting assistance
except in the case of a widow/widower.
No amounts can be "held-over"
by the utility department under this program.
No appointments will be
made until the balance of the final notice has been paid.
Cannot pay
utility deposits and cannot assist if the utility service has been
disconnected.
Budgeting class completion will be required for further
utility assistance after the first time.
Cannot assist with old bills at
previous address.
(Note: When EFSP Funds are available, utility
assistance is granted in the amount of one months arrears.
In these
cases, the regular bill showing the amount of arrears will be
required.
RENT/MORTGAGE: Assistance given one time in a twelve
month period on a first come, first served basis with maximum assistance
of one months rent/mortgage payment up to $400.
Can not cover late
charges nor assist with security deposits.
Rent/Mortgage payments must
be at least 10 days past due and the utilities must be active at the
location.
Lease must be in the name of the person making the request for
assistance except in the case of a widow/widower.
Proof Of Income
sufficient to cover all household expenses is required for this program.
If there is no income, documentation showing reason for insufficient
income to meet current need (i.e.
job loss, illness, medical
emergencies) is required.
Budgeting class completion will be required
for rent assistance after the first time.
Unable to assist once eviction
proceedings have begun.
FOOD: Assistance given once every six
months per household; proof of Food Stamp application, benefits or
denial of benefits will be required before further assistance is given
for any household receiving food assistance twice in 12 months or three
times in 24 months.
