Guardianship Program - Dept. of Hum. Serv.
The
Department of Human Services Guardianship Program provides guardianship
and/or conservatorship services as a last resort to qualified
individuals age 18 or older with a developmental disability as defined
in SDCL 27B-1-18.
The Secretary of the South Dakota Department of Human
Services may be appointed as a guardian, a conservator, or both, for
adults with developmental disabilities under its care or to whom it is
providing services or financial assistance, but only if there is no
individual, nonprofit corporation, bank or trust company, or other
public agency that is qualified and willing to serve.

The department also provides financial assistance for qualified
individuals who are willing and qualified to serve as a guardian and/or
conservator of up to $500.00 for the establishment of a guardianship or
conservatorship through the Guardianship Establishment Program.
Limited
amount of funds for this program are available each year on a first come

SD Guardianship Program
Mission: The South Dakota
Guardianship Program (SDGP) is a private, non-profit organization with a
primary purpose to provide professional guardianship, conservatorship
and related protective services for adults with developmental and other
mentally disabling conditions.
The SDGP complies with SDCL 29A-5 in
carrying out its mission and services.
SDGP is an alternative source of
guardianship and conservatorship when family members or others are
unable or unavailable to assume responsibility.
Its secondary mission is
to provide support services to professionals, parents and family
members, people with developmental disabilities and others about
guardianship, conservatorship and related protective services.
The
services include consultation, education, information and assistance.
The SDGP recognizes the serious responsibilities and impact involved in
assuming guardianship and conservatorship.
Persons referred to the SDGP
have basic rights and these rights will be acknowledged, supported and

South Dakota Housing Development Authority - SD STATE PROGRAM
*Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program*
On February 17, 2009, President Obama signed the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act of 2009,which ludes $1.5 billion for a Homelessness
Prevention Fund. Funding for this program, called the Homelessness
Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program (HPRP), is being distributed
based on the formula used for the Emergency Shelter Grants (ESG) program.
Grantees may provide rental assistance or services to eligible program
participants who are residing or would like to reside outside their
jurisdiction. They may also fund ubgrantees that serve persons outside
of the jurisdiction, subgrantees that are located outside of the
jurisdiction, and subgrantees that serve multiple jurisdictions. A
grantee may establish more stringent requirements, such as requiring
that HPRP funds be spent within the jurisdiction or establishing a
residency requirement,but HUD is not setting these requirements.
