Community Action Agency provides emergency assistance to low-income and
elderly through the following programs:LiHEAP - Assists low income,
elderly, disabled and households with children with utility bills once
every 12 months for 12 months.TRANSPORTATION - Transports eligible

Medical Transportation to medical facilities, dialysis centers, Social

referrals, transportation and clothing for homeless families.FAITH PLACE
- Provides affordable housing through development and
construction.MEDICAID ENROLLMENT - Helps with applying for Medicaid
which provides financial assistance for medical expenses.WEATHERIZATION
- Helps low-income individuals to weatherize their dwellings.SUMMER
FEEDING - Supplies nutritious meals to children during summer months
when they are out of school.HEAD START - provides comprehensive health,
educational, nutritional, social and other services to economically
disadvantaged preschool children.EMERGENCY SHELTER - provides emergency
housing for victims of fire, floods, storms and other natural
disasters.SPARROW GARDENS - A 30 unit townhouse development that serves
as a model of affordable housing development in the State of
Louisiana.COMMODITIES - Designed to help feed low-income persons with
USDA Commodities (applicants must produce proof of income).SBA CLASSES -
Call for information.TRANSITIONAL HOUSING - provides rent up to 24

Teche Action Clinic
Teche Action Clinic provides
primary and preventive health care services to infants through
adulthood.
Services provided are family health care, family planning,
pediatrics, WIC and dental services.
They provide diagnostic services on
site pharmacy and dental care.
They accept private insurance, Medicaid
and Medicare.
Sliding fee is available for uninsured patients with proof
of income.
Appointments are preferred, walk-ins are accepted as long as
they are willing to wait.
Teche Action Clinic is accredited by the Joint
Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations and all
physicians are Board Certified.
Their medical staff consists of full
time employees.
Currently on staff there are 2 internal medicine
physicians, 1 pediatrician, 1 family practice, 1 psychiatrist, LCSW and
1 physician assistant.
Staff totals 40 employees.
They also conduct
Medicaid eligibility interviews on site and offer dental services
provided by 1 full time dentist.
WIC (Women, Infants, and Children)
