Farmworkers Coordinating Council Of Palm Beach County,Inc.
The Farmworker Coordinating Council is a private, not-for-profit
organization dedicated to providing comprehensive social and human
services to Palm Beach County s farmworkers and their families. The FWCC
began in the winter of 1977-78 with a group of volunteers who responded
to the emergency needs of farmworkers affected when a sudden freeze
destroyed much of the area s fruits and vegetables. Since then the
unique and acute needs of the farmworkers of Palm Beach County have been
served by the efforts of this small but productive agency. The FWCC has
grown from its beginnings as a small group of volunteers to a
full-service United Way agency with eleven employees, two offices, and

Adopt-A-Family Of The Palm Beaches, Inc.
In 1983 three
local women active in community affairs founded Adopt-A-Family. They
were concerned about families that had suffered financial reversal from
illness, death, divorce or other extenuating circumstances and were no
longer self-sufficient. They worked to find organizations and
individuals who would assist a family for a one year period of time
while the family worked to regain self-sufficiency. From this beginning
Adopt-A-Family has developed a continuum of services from prevention to

Emergency
assistance, food, clothing, counseling and referral service. Also
provides rent/mortgage assistance to avoid eviction, when rent/mortgage
is due within 5 days or after that point under the Emergency Food &
Shelter Program. Food Pantry is available on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9am
-2 pm. Eligibility for Lake Worth Utility assistance requires: photo
identification, social security cards for all members of the family,
proof of crisis, Lake Worth Utility bill (itemized) and Shut Off Notice.
Once utilities are Shut Off we cannot assist you. Other Services Offered
by this Program: Clothing; Donation-Furniture; Food Pantry; Rental
